This website is owned and maintained by Nurhanne Reckweg, a knitter with a thing for holes in her knitting.
Because I believe in sharing and helping other people.
I learned to knit as a child around the age of 5 or 6, and over the years, though not a passionate knitter, I have knitted my share of sweaters and vests.
In May 1999 I started my first knitted doily. I had never tried kntting lace before, but wanted to try something new, assuming it would be a one-time-only project. But knitting that doily was so much fun that I just had to make more!
At the time there were no lace knitting patterns available at all where I live, so I soon found myself scouring the web for resources, and Yarn Over was "cast on" as part of my personal website in August 1999, because I wanted to share my collection of lace knitting links and the English translations of the Kunststrik.dk patterns with other knitters.
It has continued growing, and in October 2005 Yarn Over moved to a home of its own.
I still add new material as and when time permits.
With time and money that would otherwise have been spent on my own knitting.
Yarn Over is handcoded. I am completely self-taught in everything to do with with creating and running a website. So if something on the site looks a bit weird, you know why!Yarn Over would not have existed without the following:
MY MOTHER, who first taught me how to knit.
The late ERNA ANDERSEN
of Kunststrik.dk
ANDERS ANDERSEN, the man behind the Kunststrik.dk pictures.
MY HUSBAND and CHILDREN, ever patient when I play too much
