For the sake of clarity I have added a few additional instruction regarding the crocheted edge. Where crochet terms differ, UK/US.
Move 1 stitch to right hand needle, and work edge with a crochet hook:
Row 1: *3 stitches tog with a double/single crochet, chain 8*, repeat till end, ending with a slip stitch in the first dc/sc.
Row 2-3: Slip stitch till middle of first loop, 1 double/single crochet in middle of loop,* chain 8, 1 dc/sc in next loop* repeat till end of round ending with 8 chain and a slip stitch in first dc/sc.
