This pattern is a translation of one found in the Danish book "Fuldstændig Strikkeskole", published by Carl Allers Forlag og Tryk, Copenhagen 1877.

ABBREVIATIONS:

K = knit
K2TOG = knit 2 together
P = purl
SL = slip
YO = yarn over

Odd rows are knit plain. K1, P1 in double yarn overs.

Cast on 16 stitches.

Row 1: Knit.

Row 2: SL1, K12, YO, K2TOG.

Row 4: SL1, K2TOG, YO, K5, (YO twice, K2TOG) twice, K1, YO, K2TOG.

Row 6: SL1, K14, YO, K2TOG.

Row 8: SL1, (K2TOG, YO) 3 times, (K2TOG, YO twice) 3 times, K2, YO, K2TOG.

Row 10: SL1, K17, YO, K2TOG.

Row 12: SL1, cast off 6 stitches, K2TOG, YO, K5, K2TOG, YO twice, K2, YO, K2TOG.

Repeat rows 1- 12 for required length.
